Meet Our Members: Daizy Bugz


Our second member spotlight is on Ericka Cardice of Daizy Bugz. Please take a moment to get to know Ericka and all the lovely products she creates.

Ericka is a stay at home mom to 2 teenagers, a tween and a one year old. She started her business after her 1 year old, Bella, was born and thought there must be a much cuter way to "wear" that binky. After not finding much in the stores, she started making her own pacifier clips and hair clips to match. She decided to open an Etsy shop and share her goods with others and it has taken off! Thanks to Etsy, she has shipped pacifier clips all over the world. She’s had so much fun that she has expanded to much more such as: hair bows and clippies, ponytail holders, bow holders for all those so cute hair clips and bows, bookmarks for the older kids and a few more goodies like one of a kind necklaces for Mom!

Mom’s Time Out Summer Festival Application

The Mom’s Time Out Summer Festival Application


General information for vendors:
Date: Saturday, June 4th

Time: 11:00 am- 6:00 pm

Set Up/Take Down: 8:00 am-8:00 pm

Where: Property around Lucy & Leo’s Cupcakery and Textures Handmade Market


Approximately 40 vendor spaces are available for this event.

To ensure a variety of vendors and offerings, the ideal distribution of vendors will be limited to:

10 handmade/craft-based businesses

10 retail/resale businesses

5-6 service providers (with distribution including photographers, face painters, and other beauty services)

5-6 consultant-based businesses (with only one per company)

5-6 food vendors

4-5 vendors representing local storefront businesses or service providers

1 kid-focused company (ie, party supplies like bouncehouse providers)


4/29/11 NOTE: DUE to demand, we are reallocating spaces to have 15 handmade/craft-based businesses and 10 retail/resale businesses which will include storefront businesses and storefront service providers. There will no longer be a separate category for storefront businesses/service.


Additional table space is available for local Event Promotions, Nonprofits and Clubs by providing space for information tables.


We are also looking for local kid and mom-centered activity providers who want to showcase their activities by providing performances.


There will be the availability of up to four (4) scholarship spots for start up businesses (ten percent of vendors). In order to give back and help other moms who are just getting started in their business, MTO seeks applications from moms who are just getting started. If you feel you may qualify and would like information, please contact us by email at momstimeouttlh@gmail.com. The purpose of these spots is to provide exposure.


Fees:

- Mom’s Time Out Members and Supporters (10' x 10' Booth Space): $20.00

- Vendor at this event only (10' x 10' Booth Space): $35.00

- Provide a demonstration, place for flyers on a community table, and be listed on website (no individual booth space): $10.00


Application criteria:

1. MTO Membership

3. Mom-run business

4. Locally Based business

5. Type of business- to insure a variety of vendors at each event, MTO Organizers reserve the right to limit each type of vendor to a certain percentage of the total number of vendors.

Meet Our Members: FairyDust Faces


Part of the mission of Mom's Time Out is to showcase local and mom-run businesses. Through these "Meet Our Members" posts, we hope to provide you introduction to our fabulous members and their businesses. Without further ado, here is Karen Mercer, founding Artist of FairyDust Faces!

Karen first started drawing as a child. Her favorite subjects were birds. All kinds of birds; birds in flight, birds eating worms, birds with huge plumage. At 10 she began copying, line for line the works of Michelangelo and da Vinci. It wasn't until after years of oil and acrylic painting, followed by charcoal figure drawing and award winning work in cake decorating that Karen brought her skills to face painting.

Let MTO Help Your Business

Mom’s Time Out is organized by local moms-in-business who want to help promote each other connecting businesses with local moms.

There are other organizations that strive to promote business in general, but we want to keep costs minimal and especially seek to help new businesses gain exposure.

We all have our own businesses and completely understand how hard it is to not only get started but to also take care of every other part of the business- accounting, producing, maintaining, marketing, and of course, sharing. While we can’t take care of it all, we do hope to help make it easier for you to reach local moms, and thus help you share. By connecting you with other local moms-in-business, we hope you will make new friends who understand what being in business is like and can help share resource tips too.

MTO creates fun events and gives back to the community to raise awareness of all the great local and mom-run businesses in our area. Our developing web community also helps to connect moms with moms-in-business by getting everyone together in one place.

We believe that moms want to support other moms. However, with so many demands on our time, we can’t always seek out a mom-run business when it is time to get a baby gift or to find a more ecologically responsible alternative to common products to finding local service providers or even to buy something for ourselves.

So, if you are a business in the local area and want to reach more moms, consider joining our group. We have memberships available for moms-in-business (MTO Business Members) and other local businesses (MTO Supporters).

We also want to showcase the many great parent clubs in the area. You can join free! Just fill out the online application with all of your information and we’ll add you to the site.

Why Join Mom’s Time Out?



So, after a few months of growing interest and support from the community, we have decided to formalize our membership process.


Truth be told, I don’t think we expected to have so much support from you all when the four of us first got together. The thought was to bring our friends and fans together to meet each other and learn about other local mamas in business. The reality was that within about two days, we had over 100 fans and more local business moms interested in playing with us than we could fit at our first event. Truly, an awesome feeling.


Our first event hosted fifteen local mom-run businesses, and over fifty door prizes! For our second event, we were able to secure a very unique partnership opportunity with The One Week Boutique to bring another amazing event. It featured some repeat vendors and some new ones, for a total again of fifteen local businesses and drawings for themed baskets with bigger prizes.


The planning is well underway for our next event in June, featuring more businesses, more fun, and including the whole family. The Mom’s Time Out Summer Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th, and we hope to have fun for the whole family. This event is poised to be our largest annual event. (Applications will be sent out in the next week for our Summer Festival)


Membership can certainly have its privileges! As a MTO Member, you will not only be the first to get the event applications, you also get reduced event pricing, web site visibility all year, access to other local mom-run-businesses, and more. We will feature member businesses on our website with our “Meet Our Members” series. Our goal is to provide at least 3-4 events a year, including at least one social event.


So, who should join? Well,

Are you willing to share information on other local resources too?
