Meet Our Members: Shirley Moore of Christine's

After many years of stitching, sewing, knitting, and crafting, this mother-daughter team of Christine's strives to bring handmade into every household!

With the birth of her two grandchildren and her daughter’s desire to cloth diaper, Christine began her quest to make an adorable and functional cloth diaper for her grand-boys. As a cloth-diapering momma of three kids, Christine knew that pre-folds and pins of the 70's just would not do! With over 50 years of sewing, knitting and crafting on her table, it didn't take Christine long to zip together the perfect all-in-one cloth diaper with a functionality that could not be beat. No more throwing cash into the trash with disposables!

With so much praise and interest in these exquisite diapers plus a lifetime of skill just waiting to be appreciated, daughter Shirley, knew it was clearly the right time for the world to see just how fabulous her mother's creations turn out to be! Armed with a large inventory of crocheted afghans, unique sleep sacks, receiving blankets and matching burp cloths, Christine's was born!

Shirley had strong confidence in her mother's skills and abilities; after all, she did make Shirley's wedding dress, including intricate beadwork and the delicate train. Growing up, Shirley remembers there never was a project her mother refused to do without precision and perfection. She states, "Every single thing my mother has made over her lifetime has turned out brilliant! People are always in awe of her work. She loves making things and her thoughtfulness and care really shine through in her creations".

With inventory growing, Shirley helped push her mother through the technological internet door and take their creations global on Etsy. Cloth diapers and wet bags that are just too cute are their specialty. Personalized toddler activity placements are also a hot item.

The two little boys in their lives are their inspiration for new projects, though babies and toddlers are not the only ingredients to this recipe! Anything from alterations, personalized pillows, or anything else requiring fabric and thread, Christine's can create!

The pride and joy product so far has been Bride & Groom Teddy Bears made from the Bride's own wedding dress... every last detail was replicated down to the "rain drops" that fell in the middle of the ceremony! There was even fabric left over from the Bride's wedding dress to make a Christmas tree skirt!
Christine has also made her daughter's wedding dress, altered variety of formal gowns, and made her children's and grandchildren's christening gown out of her own wedding dress! If it requires a needle and some thread, Christine knocks 'em dead!

Stop by Christine’s Etsy shop today for that one of a kind “talked-about” item!

Meet Our Members: April Vicary of April's Crafting Addiction

April Vicary is married with two beautiful daughters. She has been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for 3 years but has been paper crafting for 14 years. She works as hard as she can, prays very hard, and surrounds herself with amazing women and men. She says that "when we help others and follow God's lead in loving the people that He puts into our lives, you will surely succeed in anything you do". She feels truly blessed, and is grateful for the amazing life she has been given. Being a mother is her greatest calling.

Stampin' Up! is huge part of April's life, mostly because of the women and men that she has met that LOVE paper crafting as much as she does. She just loves to stamp, but honestly it's the people that have kept her here, the joy of loving what she does, and seeing the joy on faces when they see what they have created with a rubber stamp, ink pad, and card stock (and a little bling!). She absolutely LOVES teaching and showing others their creative side too.

April's Crafting Addiction hosts several crafting events each month

Local Kid Entertainers ‘Hit The Big Time’ at Tallahassee Mall!

Tallahassee, Florida July 8, 2013— Junior Members of the Family Entertainers Guild, Miles and Bentley Mercer, have won the opportunity to ‘go into business’ at the Tallahassee Mall. The youngsters entered a contest sponsored by the Tallahassee Mall last month and have now been given the opportunity to strut their business know-how on July 20th from 1-4pm in the Tallahassee Mall's Center Court.
Bentley Mercer (age 11) first appeared as Pippy the Clown, with flaming magenta braids, in the last Springtime Tallahassee Parade alongside Tallahassee legend Coo-Coo the clown. Pippy will be showcasing her fun antics and balloon twisting ability at the mall on July 20, 2013.

Miles Mercer (age 13) will be setting up shop at a temporary airbrush tattoo master. Miles has been spraying airbrush tattoos for just over a year and has worked professionally for high school graduation parties, on location at community festivals, First Friday in railroad square and for the Kids Triathlon Series. Miles also has his own business web site at www.TattooShooter.com

The siblings come by their skills naturally as mom has been a family entertainer with FairyDust Faces for most of their lives. “In fact Miles was a stilt walker last year for the 4th of July celebrations in both Southwood and at Tom Brown park, but really tattoos are what he’s really interested in. And Bentley, well she’s just a goof ball so a clown was a natural fit for her”

The Tallahassee Family Entertainers Guild is dedicated to the education of family entertainers in the fields of face and body art, performance arts such as characters, puppetry, yo-yo and jugglers, games, balloon twisting and party decoration. Our primary goal is to elevate the standards and quality of family entertainment in North Florida and provide an educational and professional resource for family entertainers and artists in our community.  www.FloridaFamilyFun.org
